Who am I? An Informal Chat
Working with myself will involve answering a lot of questions that I pose, particularly during the initial assessment. Since my questions will be fairly personal, it is only fair that you get a sense of who I am as well. Hopefully this will help break down barriers in communication and neutralize some of the power dynamics that are often at play between doctors and patients. I appreciate it is difficult to make predictions about whether we will get on or not from a 5 minute video, however it should give you a sense of who I am and what to expect.
I often think of a therapeutic relationship as a dance. It is important for the two people dancing to be in sync or else they will keep stepping on each others toes.
Favourite Movie: Modern Times by Chrlie Chaplin
Favourite Book: One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Marcia Marquez
Favourite Sport: Cricket (I am from India, so hardly a surprise), play a lot of Badminton in the winter.
Favourite Toy: Love model railway, started building it for my son and never knew how I got hooked on to Thomas and crew.
Favourite Holiday: Kenya (does not matter how many times you have seen it on National Geographic, nothing replaces seeing it for real on the Mara) followed by the Mayan Ruins of Mexico
In my spare time I am a passionate photographer and like to travel. On the left I have shared my successful LRPS panel. I am keen on racket sports as well, primarily badminton and table tennis. Although I regularly tell my patients age is in the mind, of late I have started to feel it in my knees as well, thanks to badminton. Amidst other things I do amateur dramatics, keep fish and collect stamps. Thanks to my children I also went through a phase of playing with model railway, so much so that I had to build an out house to fit it in. I am also involved in organizing major community events primarily showcasing Indian culture. My favourite charity is savethechildren.org.
